On the first anniversary of the dissappearance of
Ginamarķa Hidalgo
|
When our Rinconcito (our little corner or place), on February 10, 2004, was putting
out the first candle from its main room functioning as a Day Care Center for Elderly
Persons - in a sad paradox - the earthly existence of one of the most beautiful lirical
voices ever given to the world by Latin America was also being put to rest: the voice
of Ginamaria Hidalgo. A strange sensation, an odd feeling was mixed in with the certainty of her entrance into inmortality, and into the firmament of our lives a new star appeared, that will not stop shining for the world of those that knew her. This is because the timbre of her voice will continue to fill the universal ethers, for all time. Someone once called her "the harp that sings", because her vocal chords were a nest of songs, her spirit a place of serenity, and her heart a contained qualdron of love and deep passion. Even though it costs us a lot to accept her departure, we are left with the consolation of having enjoyed her presence in this home within which she painted a smile in all its roms, and because we will continue to listen to the spirit of her voice, that voice that was able to achieve the miracle of joining together classical music and art with popular song in perfect and total form. Ginamaria: today, having reached the first year of your physical dissapearance from this earth, we revere your figure. We are going to miss that body of delicate anatomy capable of singing without weakness, and with the clarity of a nightingale. Yet we will permanently be evoking you in our gratitude for our beloved godmother. And the years will pass, and your songs will continue filling the void. And at the Rinconcito de Romeo, we will continue proclaimning that, some time ago, when we celebrated the "Day of Life", an angel sang for us. |
