PRESS RELEASE
Spain, May 26, 2004.
Silvia Rodrigues Curti.
President of the Cultural Association
"Amerindia - ABYA - YALA"
The international singer, GINAMARÍA HIDALGO, who recently passed away, will
receive a well-deserved homage in Córdoba, Argentina on June 25, 2004.
On this date a new monument will be inaugurated in the area of Las
Peñas Norte, where the middle school, John Fitzgerald Kennedy is also situated.
This is significant because Ginamaria was named the school's godmother in 1999,
during a benefit concert that she performed for that institution.
The Monument has been named by the Secretary of Culture of that Argentine province,
by means of Decree number 001, as being of Cultural Interest for the Province.
In addition, there are plans to create, in a subsequent phase, a competition
involving middle school students at the national level, which will be
carried out every year, encompassing diverse artistic and cultural expressions.
The creation of the “GINAMARÍA HIDALGO” awards that will be given together
with special scholarships for the most outstanding students of the country,
have as their objective of utmost priority to encourage and motivate creativity, and to
offer opportunity for developing the qualities and values - of intellectual and artistic merit -
of the youth of Argentina.
